A huge ‘well done’ to Janet and Tracey for completing this year’s Race for Life 5k event at Gloucester Park earlier this month on the 10th of June.
This is no ordinary 5k. This is thousands of women uniting with one purpose. To come together. To raise money. To BEAT CANCER.
Gloucester Race for Life itself raised over £70,000 and here are just some examples of where the money raised goes:
£5 kits out one of Cancer Research’s ground-breaking research labs out with essential chemicals – the bread and butter of day-to-day experiments, helping to beat cancer sooner.
£270 covers the cost of a trial for a day to find the best treatment for children with a rare type of leukaemia, whose cancer has come back after treatment.
£400 is the cost of running Cancer Chat for one day helping thousands of people through very difficult times.
Janet says “This year I ran the race thinking of good friends I have lost recently, but especially for my next door neighbour’s grand daughter who is really going through intense treatment.
We have to find ways to support and raise funds and awareness of cancer”.
Tracey says “I have ran the Race for Life for the past 12 years and always find the atmosphere heart-warming, emotional and overall incredible – many of us have been touched by cancer in some way or another – and it is a great feeling knowing that you are doing your bit by helping to raise money for Cancer Research”.
