Broomfield Care’s May 2025 Newsletter 🌷

Hello Everyone! 👋

We hope you’re all well this month- it’s been a while since our last newsletter at the start of April! We’ve had quite a few things going on at Broomfield in the last 8 weeks or so to report on. And, of course, our latest extra mile award winners!

Staff Meeting and Training Session 🦸‍♀️

To start, we want to, once again, say thank you to everyone who attended our most recent staff meeting and mental health training session- we hope you all found it interesting and informative. Please see photos from the event below. ⬇️

Tracey’s 10 Years at Broomfield Care! 🦸‍♀️

Alongside the staff meeting, we celebrated a very important milestone for one of our team members- Tracey has officially reached 10 years at Broomfield Care! Tracey is a hard-working member of the administrative and her dedication to Broomfield Care over the last 10 years has been outstanding.

Tracey is a dedicated and hard-working member of the Broomfield Care Team. She is funny, warm, kind-hearted and an absolute pleasure to work with. 😊

Tracey’s Race For Life 😎

And, to top it all off, Tracey is also running Cancer Research UK’s ‘Race for Life’ this weekend!

Cancer Research UK is the world’s largest independent cancer research organisation- it is a charity that funds life-saving research, provides information and support for people affected by cancer, and campaigns for better prevention and treatment.

If you’d like to show some support, you can visit Tracey’s donation page linked here below! ⬇️

SSRI’s and Heat

As you all know, it’s been particularly warm these last two months, and hopefully the nice weather will continue into the summer. ☀️

However, for some, this weather can pose an issue, which we felt needed highlighting. For those on anti-psychotics or anti-depressants, they need to be extra cautious when dealing with excess heat.

In 2023, over 8.6 million adults in the UK were prescribed anti-depressants, with the number of prescriptions set to rise over the next decade.

These medications can make you less tolerant of the heat and make your skin more sensitive, therefore making you more susceptible to the likes of sunstroke, and dehydration.

On days that are especially sunny, and the temperature starts creeping up, you’re best to follow standard heatwave advice, such as wearing high-factor sunscreen, drinking plenty of water, and wearing loose, lightweight clothing to combat the heat.

Those struggling with the side effects should not come off their medication without consulting their doctor or a specialist.

If you haven’t already, please follow and give us a like on Facebook!

As much engagement as possible is very beneficial to the company as it helps boost our online presence and expand our reach across Gloucestershire- our goal is to not only connect far better with those currently a part of the Broomfield Care family, but potential service users and support workers too. 🙂

Staff Updates

☀️The Management Team

We also just wanted to make a quick announcement that we’ve had a slight change to our management team- Sharon has been chosen as our new rota co-ordinator, and Jess S has a new title as our Training and Development Manager!

☀️New Starters

We’ve also had a few new faces out and about in the field! We hope everyone gives a warm welcome to Tina, Raja, Leanne, Kaitlyn and Nicolina. Find a snippet from Kaitlyn and Raja about starting at Broomfield Care!

I’m really excited to be joining the team at Broomfield Care! My background is in support work, and I’ve always been passionate about making a positive difference in people’s lives. I’m really looking forward to learning and growing with Broomfield Care!

Hi, I’m Raja! I recently joined Broomfield Care and am really enjoying being part of such a supportive team. I come from a background in Care and management and over the years, I’ve worked in roles that focus on supporting individuals in the community and residential settings.

I’m excited to be here and look forward to getting to know everyone better!

Look out for a blog coming soon dedicated to our newest staff members! 🤔

The Extra Mile Award Winner 🌟

As a reminder, our last two winners were Jess H and Trish, pictured with their certificates below!

But, the winner for May is…AJ!

AJ was nominated by our Care Manager Charlotte as her kindness and compassion towards our staff and service users has really shown this month! AJ started at Broomfield care around 8 months ago and since then has grown into an amazing and dedicated support worker. 🙂

Charlotte said, “I want this award to go to AJ!! AJ is a lovely, cheerful and caring individual, who goes above and beyond our expectations. She always takes a holistic approach to providing care for our clients, keeping the staff in the office up to date on client’s physical and mental wellbeing.”

🎉Well Done AJ!🎉
