This year we decided to organise a cake bake sale to support a local cause, and one that was close to our hearts …
Emily Gardner was tragically taken, due to an accident on a Speedboat in Brixham Harbour on May Bank Holiday, 2015. Emily, 14, from Abbeymead, was such a lovely girl and is sadly missed by everyone that knew her.
‘The Emily gardner relay’ and family fun day has been created in her memory.
On Saturday 11th June 2016, teams of runners will be taking part in a relay race from Brixham to Gloucester. They hope to raise money for two charities chosen by Emily’s family. The last mile of the relay race will finish at Walls Sports and Social club in Barnwood. This will officially open the Family day, which will mean lots of fun for all. Entertainment and activities include a bouncy castle, hot and cold refreshments, a disco dome, market stalls, a football tournament and lots more.
Broomfield Care are hoping to raise sponsorship for the two charities which are RNLI – ‘saving lives at sea’ and Winston’s Wish – the Charity for bereaved children (as well as a contribution towards the running of the event)
Hopefully the bake sale will be a success, and Broomfield Care will ‘match the donation’ on the total we have raised at the sale, as its such a special cause.
The cake details …..
The bake sale will be taking place from 10am – 2pm, on Friday 10th June at ‘The business centre’, Innsworth Technology Park, Innsworth Lane Gloucester.
