Broomfield Care have had the pleasure of caring for his lovely family for nearly two years now. Unfortunately Gerald’s wife died last year and we have continued to support Gerald at his home. Gerald ended up being quite poorly earlier this year and was at Lydney hospital for some time while they cared for him. This wasn’t the end goal for Gerald, and he wanted to get home as soon as possible. Broomfield Care supported him to do this, ensuring that everything was in place and his home was a safe environment for him to return home.
Gerald was been receiving two carers to support with care as he was unable to walk. After several months of being back home, Gerald’s strength and determination grew as he wanted to walk once again. Gerald has powered through, and is able to walk short distances and we have been able to make a reduction in his care requirements. Gerald has fought to be where he is. Gerald is an inspirational man, who came back fighting!
“We have been so impressed with the excellent standard of care our father Gerald has experienced with Broomfield.
Without exception his carers have been respectful, kind, patient and tolerant. They anticipate his needs and respond appropriately to him.
He has got to know them well – one of the benefits for us as a family is that he has continuity of care with a team who really have come to know him and all of his particularities!
He is not strong physically but has an enquiring mind and a wonderful sense of humour – his carers appreciate both of these qualities and nurture them.
We really appreciate the relationships Dad has made with Broomfield’s team – we can relax as we know he will be so well cared for by everyone.” ~ Gerald’s family
“I can move a little more freely than I could beforehand since receiving support from Broomfield Care” ~ Gerald
