Earlier this year we had the pleasure of starting to care for a lovely gentleman who sadly passed away with his doting wife beside him last month.
Stan always used to wave at passers by and I am sure his neighbourhood and local community will also feel a loss from having their friendly neighbour there to wave to them. Stan once told Deputy Manager Charlotte that having Broomfield Care care for him felt like he had won the lottery ❤
It felt fitting that we should commemorate someone who touched all of our hearts by just being a kind, caring, loving, friendly and fun gentleman and his hugs will never be forgotten. He will be fondly remembered by us all.
Mr Stanley Phelps’ daughter wrote this fitting tribute to her Dad and has allowed us to share this with you 😊
So the legend that was my Dad, Stan Phelps has passed away on Saturday 25th June, it was very peaceful and dignified at home where he wanted to be. We couldn’t have done any of this without the amazing and outstanding care we all received from Broomfield Care, right from the first call to them when they helped us to get dad out of hospital until the very end, they were there for us. We will be forever grateful to them, in particular, Charlotte and Sarah in the pic with dad (he wanted a Broomfield polo shirt and got one).
Many people knew Stan through Cricket and Football, there have been lots of lovely comments about him it makes me proud to be his daughter. Me and my brother Steven were adopted and to say we couldn’t have chosen better parents that would be an understatement. My dad taught me so much through life and I hope I am just a little bit like him, he was kind, caring, generous, loving and most of all very funny. It is an honour to call him my dad and i will miss him like crazy but he is no longer suffering. Thanks to everyone that has been so supportive checking up on us and being there for us, you know who you are.
His funeral is on Wednesday 13th July 12.00pm – at Gloucester Crem and then afterwards at Gloucester Cricket Club at the Spa in Gloucester where he was the club President. Anyone that knew dad is more than welcome on the day.
Special mention to my mum Eileen, who has remained her usual dignified self through all of this, an inspirational woman for sure. Also big thanks to my brother and his wife Ali who are amazing. ~ Sharon
