Joyce has been receiving care visits at Broomfield Care for over 5 years now, and has been a favourite service user to many of our carers ever since.

She usually has two care visits everyday as well as a social visit once a fortnight, which she thoroughly looks forward to. At Joyce’s request, we often take her to the supermarket for a good look around, then stay to have something for lunch in the café. Joyce also enjoys going to her favourite coffee shop for a drink.

Joyce always has lots of fun at these visits and says how much she appreciates her time out with us- “Everyone is absolutely fantastic- Staff are friendly and efficient…they do some excellent work- I only have to ask, and it’s done for me.” In addition, her son has commented that it gives him peace of mind and seeing other people has kept her going.

We have also heard back from plenty of our carers on how much they enjoy seeing Joyce:

“I took Joyce out for lunch – it’s such a pleasure when a Service User keeps thanking you.  Joyce then asked if I could take her out again.  Joyce said, “it’s given me such a lift just going out for a couple of hours”.  I did say to Joyce that I don’t mind at all.  How lovely is that! I thought I would just share this with you as it makes my job complete” (Jackie)

“We went to Asda and had a cup of tea and I pushed Joyce round in one of their wheelchairs- we looked at the clothes and home furnishings. Joyce kept saying it was so lovely to be out and really appreciates it. We had a lovely chat about Joyce’s son, and she said he is one in a million. We then went to Morrisons to the café and had some lunch. The visit was great fun!” (Abi)

Social Visits at Broomfield Care

If you or a loved one struggle to get from A to B, we offer social or transport visits on their own, or alongside an existing care package. Whether that’s helping you pursue hobbies at home, taking you to a doctors’ appointment or helping you with the weekly food shop, our team of compassionate carers can help you feel more like your normal self.

Social visits can be very beneficial for an individual’s mental health, especially if they live alone or have been struggling to attend social events. Social isolation is a significant problem among the elderly and those with physical or mental health conditions- it can lead to stress, feelings of loneliness and can even develop into depression and/or anxiety.

However, through our social visits, we can help you reconnect with the wider community and help regain your confidence when going out and about. Having a companion by your side provides reassurance if you feel nervous or overwhelmed going out in the community as well as keep you safe, and get you back to your regular routines.
